Maranda
—your secret weapon for turning fundraising woes into wins. With a stellar track record of over 25 years in leadership roles, I’ve orchestrated successful missions at renowned organizations like the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and the Honolulu Museum of Art. As the brains behind Maranda Fundraising Strategies, I’m not just a CEO; I’m your go-to guru for strategic planning, capital campaign wizardry, and creating cultures of philanthropy that would make Mother Teresa proud.
Picture this: during the chaos of the COVID-19 pandemic, I led the Nelson-Atkins ship through stormy waters, not just meeting but exceeding fundraising goals. Need someone to revolutionize your organization’s vision and values? Look no further—I’ve done it at the Honolulu Museum of Art, sparking a major shift in public engagement, board governance, and giving. I don’t just talk the talk; I walk the walk, having raised over $65M during my tenure at the Nelson-Atkins and propelled annual contributed revenue growth from $3.8M to $6M+ at the Honolulu Museum of Art.
But it’s not all about numbers and boardrooms. I’m currently mastering the art of Art Therapy at Emporia State University because, let’s face it, creativity is the secret sauce to success. Beyond the hustle, catch me on Instagram at @artfoodmusic, sharing my love for all things art, yoga, and ocean conservation.
Ready to elevate your organization to new heights? Let’s chat. I’m not just a leader; I’m your fundraising fairy godmother, ready to sprinkle a bit of Maranda magic on your next venture.

Letter of Referal from the Kansas City Library
Dear Tam,
Thank you for reaching out!! I think the world of Hathaway. We met in 2013 or 2014 when we both worked as art museum fundraisers. She was held in very high regard among the small and tight-knit museum fundraising community. I was thrilled when I learned that she had accepted a position that would bring her to Kansas City.
Hathaway is uniquely driven in her fundraising pursuits and was exceptionally successful in the very high-pressure fundraising environment at the Nelson-Atkins. When she stepped down from the Nelson I immediately pursued her as a consultant, and have been so impressed and grateful for the support and guidance that she has provided. Her manner is welcoming and empathetic, but she is also very trustworthy and candid; when she sees an area of concern or something that could be improved, she lets me know, and we work together to identify resources and a strategy to turn the situation around.
Hathaway is currently helping me to engineer and implement an entirely new fundraising strategy and staffing model for the Library, which includes a huge pivot in the way I fundraise and the way I direct the Library’s philanthropy department. I could not be more pleased with the support, and feel that I have a true partner in a challenging endeavor. I believe that Hathaway’s expertise and experience exceeds that of nearly every fundraiser in Kansas City and it shows – she has a laser focus on getting results, and to that end, has been able to quickly zero in on what is detracting from our fundraising success and help us to correct course.
Please let me know if you have any other questions. I’m happy to share more, and truly think the world of Hathaway. She would be an amazing partner for you and for the SPCA.
Thank you,
Margaret
